Veteran radio actor Alan Reed, the voice of Boris in Disney's 1955 classic Lady and the Tramp, is born Edward Bergman in New York City. (Cartoon fans may know him as the original voice of Fred Flintstone!)
1928:
Disney's Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon Hot Dog is released.
It is the final Oswald short produced.

Imagineer and Disney Legend Harriett Burns is born in San Antonio, Texas. She will be the first woman ever hired by Walt Disney Imagineering in a creative rather than an office capacity. Burns will go on to help create Sleeping Beauty Castle, New Orleans Square, the Haunted Mansion, and many other theme park attractions.
1932:
Disney's black & white Mickey Mouse cartoon Trader Mickey is released. A spoof of the 1931 MGM film Trader Horn, it is directed by David Hand.
1933:
United States political leader George Mitchell is born in Waterville, Maine.
A member since 1995 of the Walt Disney Company board of directors, he became Disney’s board chairman in 2004.
2003:
Disney releases the CD Disney's Greatest Hits, Vol 3. The collection includes performances by Elton John, Sarah McLachlan and Randy Newman.
2006:
The evening performance of Disney's Tarzan (at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City) benefits the Actors' Fund of America.

Lionel Hampton and his Big Band perform at Disneyland for the first of a seven-day engagement. A jazz vibraphonist, percussionist, bandleader and actor, Hampton ranks among the great names in jazz history.

Actress and singer/songwriter Demi Lovato is born in Dallas, Texas.
Best known to Disney Channel fans as Mitchie Torres in Camp Rock, she also appears in the series As The Bell Rings (as Charlotte Adams) and Sonny With a Chance (as Sonny Monroe).
