2005:

New York City's Museum of Modern Art premieres a new exhibit

called "Pixar: 20 Years of Animation." It is the largest animation show

the museum has ever done, as well as the first time the material has been seen outside of Pixar's studios

in Northern California. The show's run into 2006 coincides with Pixar's 20th anniversary.

1935:

Disney's Silly Symphony cartoon Broken Toys is released.

1938:

An afternoon story meeting takes place at the Disney Studio.

Walt and his staff discuss Sequence 10 of Pinocchio.

1955:

The Mickey Mouse Club airs on ABC. Today is Anything Can Happen Day.

The Disneyland television series presents episode 34 - "Davy Crockett: The River Pirates," starring Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen.

1961:

Disney's first live-action musical feature film Babes in Toyland, starring

Ray Bolger, Tommy Sands, Annette Funicello, and Ed Wynn is released.

1964:

Actor Todd Turquand, a member of the 1977-1978 TV series The New Mouseketeers, is born.

1966:

Lilly Disney visits her husband Walt at St. Joseph's Hospital (across from his studio)

in Burbank, California. Although Walt is very ill, she is encouraged by the strength he shows. His brother

Roy pays him a visit at night and they talk about company matters, EPCOT, and Disney

World. Walt looks at the ceiling and points out the design of the new Florida park to a teary-eyed Roy. After he

leaves, Walt asks to have his bed raised so he can look toward the nearby Disney Studios. At Roy's

orders, every one of the studio's lights is left on to shine through the night.

1977:

Tasha Danner, a member of the Disney Channel's

The All New Mickey Mouse Club, is born in Indiana.

1986:

The Wonderful World of Disney airs "The Christmas Star."

1997:

The second official "Toad In" takes place at Walt Disney World's Fantasyland. Supporters of the ill-fated Mr. Toad attraction pass out "Save Mr. Toad" buttons.

2003:

After many delays, the first phase of Walt Disney

World's Pop Century Resort (the Classic Years 1950s-90s) finally opens for business. Located at 1050

Century Drive, the resort is adjacent to the Wide World

of Sports Complex and near Disney-MGM Studios.

2004:

Mary Poppins 40th Anniversary Edition DVD is released. Bonus material includes an all-new animated short hosted by Julie Andrews.

Also released on DVD is The Princess Dairies 2: Royal Engagement.

Disney's newest musical production On The Record comes to the Lousiville Palace in Kentucky for 6 days.

2006:

Toon Disney kicks off its very first "12 Days of Christmas" event.

The Hong Kong Disneyland Resort announces an expansion plan which will add 3 new attractions for 2007 and 2008. It's A Small World for early 2008, a brand new parade for Summer 2007, and a New Animation Academy on Mainstreet USA.

At one time, a nighttime water show called "Noah's Ark" was planned to take place in the middle of Disney World's Crescent Lake.

It never went past

design stages.

1988:

Actress/singer Vanessa Anne Hudgens - Gabriella Montez on Disney Channel's High School Musical - is born in Salinas, California. She also appears in 4 episodes of Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.

1989:

The Little Mermaid is released in Peru.

Disney Family Night at High School Musical takes place at the

Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Miley Cyrus (star of Disney Channel's Hannah Montana) visits

MuchOnDemand in Toronto, Canada.

1934:

MGM releases their version of Babes in Toyland, featuring Laurel & Hardy. A costumed child dressed like Mickey Mouse appears!

2008:

Turner Classic Movies airs an all-new original documentary entitled The Age of Believing: The Disney Live-Action Classics, narrated by Tony winner and three-time Oscar nominee Angela Lansbury (the voice of Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast). The documentary - from FitzFilm, Inc. and writer/producer/director Peter Fitzgerald - follows Disney's history as it ventured beyond its animation legacy to non-animated family features.
